September 9th. Introduction to the Path of Wisdom and Love
Come and sit in community and learn about the spiritual path and training of a Bodhisattva—a great being of wisdom and love. Our world and lives call on us to awaken to our Bodhisattva nature—the essence of who we are. As we enter the path and train our hearts and minds, we learn how to befriend, relax, and be at home with the unpredictability of being human. Everyone is welcome to join us for this introduction and ongoing exploration into a transformative paradigm for living with more joy and ease. Together, we can open our hearts and experience an alive transmission of wise guidance that directs us in "how" to remember and express the best of who we are—for the benefit of all beings. As Sangha member Dave Flanagan has shared, "We can BE the rising tide." In this intro session, Dharma Refuge teacher Sue Kochan will overview the path of the Bodhisattva and orient us to the text and the practices we will encounter on this journey. At the request of sangha members, Sue will also share a personal perspective on the lineage of love and wisdom that connects our sangha (spiritual community) to the great Tibetan masters of this living tradition. PDF of Verses Anam Thubten Rinpoche will be covering. September 16, Module ONE: Trusting our Inner Most Essence Join Dharma Refuge as we explore the Bodhisattva path and expand our capacity to be a source of wisdom and love for ourselves and our world. In module one, we will work with the first chapter in Shantideva's revered text, "The Way of the Bodhisattva," entitled "The Benefits of Bodhichitta." Bodhichitta is the awakened heartmind. Without a practice of self-reflection and meditation, we may experience our wakefulness or Bodhichitta as a deep feeling of warmth and care for our world and an intuitive sense that we're missing something essential in our lives. Join us and learn about this innermost essence and the healing available when you embark on a journey to reconnect and remember all of who you are. |
