Meditation Labs

It is said that if the Buddha was asked:
“What have you gained from meditation?”

He would reply:
"Nothing! However, let me tell you what I lost: anger, anxiety,
depression, insecurity,
fear of old age and death.”

Meditation labs support new and experienced meditators. Our "lab" format is conducive to gaining direct meditation experience under the guidance of long-time practitioners.

Labs will introduce meditation techniques, share relevant neuroscience, and have many short sessions of practice mixed with ample opportunity for Q&A. Guidance on home practice will also be offered.

2021 Meditation Lab Schedule
& Lab Overview

Our first Meditation Lab of 2021 will take place Saturday, March 6 from 2-4:30pm online via Zoom.  Dharma Refuge’s Practice Guides, John Stewart and Jane Bleeg, will offer the lab.

Introduction to Calm Abiding Meditation Practice

When:
Saturday March 6, 2-4:30
Additional 2021 dates to be announced.

Where: Hosted on Zoom by Dharma Refuge. Link will be provided to all program registrants.

Who should attend: Geared to both beginners
and those who have been meditating for a while but would like to strengthen/deepen their practice.

Instructors:
Dharma Refuge practice guides, Jane Ellen Bleeg and John Stewart. The program includes an introductory recorded talk by Sue Kochan.

Program Description:
Learn Buddhist meditation fundamentals, popularized as mindfulness, in a relaxed and interactive environment that emphasizes alternating periods of instruction, practice, and Q&R (question and response). Our Meditation Labs are designed to take meditation from concept and theory into direct, lived experience. Instruction naturally emerges through practice and participants' questions. We’re all trying to understand how meditation can help us relax with our busy minds, our anxious bodies, and an unreliable world. Join us in the simple and honest act of observing the way things are — our doorway to insight, ease, and a deep contentment with life as we find it.

This lab will be informed by neuroscience, and will cover meditation posture, breathing and ways to focus the mind; as well as tips on developing a strong home practice, a bibliography of helpful books and more.

Tuition:
  • $25 for Dharma Refuge members
  • $45 for nonmembers
  • $10 for students and those with limited incomes.

For further information email Jane.

Registration: Advance registration is required and is now open. There is an enrollment deadline of Friday, March 5.
