Community. Sangha. The Buddha was asked if community or Sangha is "half of the holy life" and he replied, "it is all of the holy life." Sangha or community is a rich support for spiritual practice. We cherish our sense of community at Dharma Refuge and we always welcome anyone with an interest in Meditation and or Buddhist practice.
In addition to our weekly meditation practices we offer a ongoing programs of study, social events and community service opportunities. These include regular “Dharma Drive-ins,” monthly “tea and visiting with the sangha,” regular sangha social events and support for a local refuge family through the Rochester Chapter of No One Left Behind. The sangha is a community where there should be harmony and peace and understanding. That is something created by our daily life together. If love is there in the community, if we've been nourished by the harmony in the community, then we will never move away from love. |
