Chanting for Joy

Picture

“We create most of our suffering, so it should be logical that we also have the ability to create more joy.”
—HH Dalai Lama

“Chanting is a way of getting in touch with that place inside of us that is joy itself.”
— Krishna Das

Join Dharma Refuge for an evening of chanting practice. During these immensely trying times, we need to remember JOY is an expression of unconditional well-being. It's innate! And chanting is a practice to invoke it!

Cultivate Joy.
Be Joy.
Share Joy.
...when you Chant for Joy.

Chanting mantras evokes an egoless state and brings us into direct contact with the sacredness of our world. Let's chant together, in the warmth of sangha, and remember, joy is healing and it belongs to us all.

“That’s why joy has always been a form of resistance.”
—Michelle Obama

Check our practice calendar page to see when we are chanting next.

Everyone is welcome. We always begin with silent meditation. No previous experience is needed to drop in.

Dharma Refuge offers a monthly or bimonthly evening of Meditation and Chanting. Members of the Sangha lead the chanting and provide some basic instructions about mantra practice.

The mantras vary from practice to practice, but will always include chanting the Heart Sutra, accompanied by drumming.

These sessions are hybrid. However, chanting is truly best experienced in person, as a sangha. We encourage you to come and chant in person, if possible.

For those who do Zoom in, you should print out the pdf of the Heart Sutra from the website ahead of time. Our other chants will be displayed onscreen.
